In Memoriam

Juanita Green

Juanita Green was far more than our past President (2022–2025) and current Treasurer (2026). She was a guiding force within the Annapolis Watercolor Club, generously giving her time, talent, wisdom, and unwavering support to our organization and its members. Through her leadership, kindness, and deep love of the arts, she helped shape our club into the vibrant community it is today.

Juanita passed away in her sleep from undetermined causes on Friday night, June 19, 2026.  She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Richard Schatz

Richard Schatz was a kind and generous man who embodied the true spirit of the Annapolis Watercolor Club. He always helped whenever he was needed, serving willingly in many roles, including as our Club Vice President, Secretary and even our pianist during our COVID Zoom demonstrations and holiday parties. This soft-spoken gentleman helped keep our art community strong, and his warm presence always lifted our spirits. We all enjoyed getting to know him at workshops, exhibits, and other events.

Richard died on Saturday, July 25, 2026, following a brain injury and subsequent complications from a fall in his garden.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

In memory of these two beloved members, the AWC plans to purchase a memorial tree with marker at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.  We are currently raising funds for this memorial through donations.  If you wish to make a donation in their memory, please click the link below.  The link will take you to our donation page.  Be sure to select 'Donate to memorial fund'.  Any amount is welcome; the total cost of a memorial tree is $500.  We will hold a gathering in celebration of their lives and contributions to AWC in the spring of 2027 when we plant the tree.
