Demonstrations

Each month during the AWC member meeting, a guest artist presents a demonstration of a different or unique painting technique, or discusses a topic useful to working artists. Demonstrators include artists local to the Annapolis area as well as presenters from as far away as the West coast, Canada, the UK, France, and Poland. Topics may also cover practical subjects such as photographing artwork, framing, and other professional considerations.

WHEN: Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM

WHERE: Seelos Hall Community Center at St. John Neumann Church, 620 N Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401

ART SALON: Please bring your current art work, sketches and paintings to share with others. They will be displayed and there will be paper and pens for people to write their reactions to your work, which you can take home.

WHAT TO BRING: A painting for salon and a snack or dessert to share

DEMONSTRATION:

We are thrilled to feature local artist Naomi Clark-Turner, who brings a unique blend of science and art to our community. Originally from Southeast England, Naomi holds a PhD in biochemistry and worked in healthcare before relocating to St. Michaels in 2018.

Her vibrant artwork captures local flora and fauna. The Eastern Shore and Chesapeake Bay landscapes fondly remind her of the River Thames saltmarshes of her childhood. She masterfully translates these scenes using watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and oils. Naomi is highly active in the regional art scene, serving as:

President of the Working Artists Forum
Instructor at the Academy in Easton
Member of the St. Michaels Art League
Plein Air Painter with the Painters of the Chesapeake Bay

She also recently exhibited her work at the juried 47th Annual Art Fair in Oxford, Maryland alongside Annapolis Watercolor Club President Linda Luke. As an exceptional communicator and teacher, Naomi will host an upcoming live demonstration. She will share her techniques for sketching on location in ink and using watercolor to capture the essence of a subject. Do not miss this wonderful opportunity to learn from her!
