Demonstrations

Each month during the AWC member meeting, a guest artist presents a demonstration of a different or unique painting technique, or discusses a topic useful to working artists. Demonstrators include artists local to the Annapolis area as well as presenters from as far away as the West coast, Canada, the UK, France, and Poland. Topics may also cover practical subjects such as photographing artwork, framing, and other professional considerations.

Chris Petri

The Annapolis Watercolor Club is pleased to welcome Chris Petri as our featured demonstrator for May 13 via Zoom.
The evening will begin with the Art Salon from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, followed by brief announcements from the AWC President, and then Chris’s live demonstration. In a fast-paced and engaging session, he will attempt to complete two watercolor paintings within 90 minutes.

Chris is known for his energetic, loose painting style, working quickly to capture the essence of a subject rather than focusing on fine detail.

A dedicated student of Charles Reid, Chris has devoted more than 60,000 hours to painting and art study since 2005. His work has been described as dynamic and masterful, earning him commissioned projects and exhibition opportunities, including gallery showings and corporate collections. In addition to his studio work, he is a committed educator, having created over 300 free instructional video demonstrations and recently publishing his book, Watercolor – Methods for Success.
