Plein Air

    Plein Air events are held throughout the year at a variety of inspiring locations, offering artists the opportunity to paint outdoors while capturing the changing light, seasons, and atmosphere. These gatherings encourage observation, experimentation, and creative growth in a relaxed, supportive setting. Open to artists of all experience levels, AWC Plein Air events provide a welcoming way to connect with fellow artists, explore new locations, and enjoy the shared experience of painting on location.

    Fee: Free, but please register

    Parking: 2 parking garages within walking distance:

    • John Whitmore Parking Garage, 37 Clay St, Annapolis, MD 21401

    Meeting Point: Meet-up at 10am at the Annapolis Visitor’s Center, 26 West St, Annapolis, MD 21401. Convene again at the visitor’s center around 1pm to share your sketch/painting with the group.

    Facilities: Bathrooms are available inside the visitor’s center.


        Celebrate spring with the Annapolis Watercolor Club at Annapolis May Day 2026, where every doorstep will be transformed into a floral wonderland! Surrounded by vibrant flowers, historic streets, and festive energy, this plein air event offers the perfect opportunity to capture Annapolis at its most colorful. All skill levels are welcome to join, connect, and be inspired in this lively outdoor setting.
